Trail Rides
Our trail rides are excellent for beginner and experienced riders alike and a perfect environment to enjoy horseback riding. We provide you and your family with well trained horses to suit all skill levels. We have handpicked our horses for their calm temperament, athletic ability, and willingness to please. If you love horses and if you love nature, you will love this rare opportunity. Miles and miles of picturesque trails traverse the stunning landscape of The Galena Territory through meadows and woodlands abundant with wildlife.

Trail riders must be 8 years of age or older and weigh 65-250 pounds. For your protection we provide friendly and helpful trail guides on all rides, and we do not permit double riding. We recommend all horseback riders wear long pants and heeled, closed toe shoes. Helmets are available free of charge.

We provide you and your family with well trained horses which suit all skill levels. We have handpicked our horses for their calm temperament, athletic ability, and willingness to please. Forty miles of picturesque trails traverse the stunning landscape of The Galena Territory through meadows and woodlands abundant with wildlife.

Customers will receive a full refund with 24 hours notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by phone to cancel or inquire about rescheduling. No-shows will be charged the full price.

Please note:
For the health and safety of our guests and staff, we have reduced group size to no more than 8 riders. Two guides will join groups of 8 to maintain separation. Please make paid in full reservations to ensure availability. We ask that one person check-in and out your entire party. We are staggering start times to reduce/eliminate lines, groups, and crowds. Staff cleans equipment after each use.
 
All users of Shenandoah Riding Center and Territory trails must sign a waiver, agree to terms of the Trail and Arena Use Membership Handbook, and provide Coggins. Arena use may be restricted when in use for an SRC event or clinic. No exclusive use of the arena is permitted.

Kids' Summer Programs

Dates: August 9-10
Sessions: morning (9 a.m.-noon) or afternoon (2-5 p.m.)
Age groups: 5-7 years • 8-12 years • 13-15 years
Children to guide ratios: 2:1 for the 5-7 year olds • 4:1 for the 8-12 year olds • 4:1 for the 13-15 year olds

Summary: Through a variety of fun, engaging activities children will be guided through knowledge in horse handling, horsemanship, and riding skills. Each day they will have hands-on experiences with horses in groundwork, grooming, and riding. Students will receive a certificate, photo, their decorated lucky horseshoe, and a “Grab life by the reins” T-shirt.

DISCOVERY TRAIL RIDES

Shenandoah Orb Soccer

Looking for something fun to do inside? Fun to watch, more fun to play! "Like playing soccer in a hamster ball."

Must be at least 13 years old to play this abbreviated soccer game with teams of 5 players. It’s safe. Orb balls have internal handles and air chambers. Play in any weather - Bubble Soccer is played at the indoor arena!

Orb Soccer is a perfect COVID-19 activity. It’s a safe, fun, and a must try for everyone! RESERVATIONS REQUIRED.

RIDING LESSONS

The Shenandoah Riding Center offers private riding lessons, for ages 5 to adult. Lessons include instruction in grooming, saddling, horse care, and riding according to each student’s skill level.

All students, whether beginning or advanced, are encouraged to develop their personal horsemanship skills. If our student has never touched a horse, but is horse crazy, we can help them gain the confidence and skill-set required to safely handle them. If experienced, we have well-schooled horses and ponies to meet the challenge of continued riding and horsemanship growth. If you haven't ridden in years, we can help you regain your confidence, skill-set and fitness.

Lead Lines

Our 15 minute lead line rides give beginners and children the thrill of riding! Children and people of all ages ride full sized horses while being led by one of our professional staff.

WAGON RIDES

Pulled by a big tractor, our wagon comfortably gives passengers a great view of the surrounding area. Take in the sights and sounds of The Galena Territory from this unique and exciting perspective.

One of our professional wrangler/guides rides along to answer questions and provide interesting information along the way. Fun for the whole family... $5 per person.

 Meet Bert & Ernie from our mini brigade!

Stop by the riding center to meet Bert and Ernie. They will come to the fence ready for a scratch and cuddle.

Ernie has a fun personality and can be very talkative. Bert is a bit quieter and bashful.
