One of our most popular amenities, the marina and Lake Galena has something to offer everyone. Lake Galena is a 225 acre lake which features a variety of well stocked fish. The Marina features boat rentals for a leisurely tour of the lake as well as boat docking and storage, and a well stocked tackle shop. There is a picnic pavilion available for private parties, and many picnic tables and barbecue grills available for your use anytime.
In addition, there are many recreational activities available in the Marina Park including:
Shoreline fishing area
Hitching posts for horses
Bocce ball courts
In the heart of the Galena Territory lies a scenic, 225-acre lake perfect for fishermen (and women) and boaters who enjoy observing nature on leisurely cruises. Lake Galena is a private lake...one of the amenities available to Galena Territory property owners and guests of Eagle Ridge Inn and Resort. It boasts some of the best fishing in the area, with an abundance of smallmouth and largemouth bass, walleyed pike, bluegills, channel catfish, perch, and hybrid (tiger) muskies. And it's a quiet, beautiful lake, frequented by many types of birds such as eagles, owls, ospreys, blue herons, and wild turkeys, and a variety of animals including white tail deer, red fox, coyotes, and beavers.
When Lake Galena was completed in 1975, it was carefully planned to remain scenic and unspoiled. The vast majority of the seven-mile shoreline was designated "greenspace"--land owned by the Galena Territory Association that cannot be purchased or developed. The only docks allowed on the lake are at the marina and at Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa.
The lake is primarily spring-fed, with two main creeks also feeding into it. It has a spillway at one end, creating a beautiful 40 foot waterfall that is 600 feet long and 200 feet wide. The adjacent dam is 280 feet across and 10 feet wide at the top. Lake Galena has an average depth of 12 feet with the deepest spot of 50 feet located in front of the dam.
To protect the shoreline from erosion and keep the lake quiet, peaceful, and attractive to wildlife, the lake is restricted to 10 horsepower motors and 17-foot boats. There is no swimming or waterskiing, and a no-littering policy is strictly enforced.
